MID-WEEK Groups

There are so many ways to connect in Widcombe. If you have any questions about any of our mid week groups, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

The following are for people who would consider themselves members of the church family within our parish::

St Matt's

Life Hubs

Life Hubs meet at 7.30pm on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. These are groups of about 10-20 that meet in homes in the parish. Of course, all are welcome but they are primarily for those who would consider St Matts to be their home. However, we also love having friends and family visiting our groups so don’t be afraid to bring a friend along! The Hubs offer companionship and support on your Christian walk - worship, discussion, prayer, encouragement, challenge and support. We hope that smaller groups help us all to work through what thinking and living “upwards, inwards and outwards” means every day. Led by group members.

Pastorate

Pastorate meets from 7.30pm-9pm on the first Wednesday of each month in the Upper Room at St Matts. We all come together for a time of worship, prayer, teaching, community – it’s different every month! Usually, but not exclusively led by Tim. On the 5th Wednesday, we do something different!

For those exploring Church, and the Christian faith:

DNA - Disciples & Apostles

DNA runs as and when we find people need it and is a six week course, which has been written specifically for all those wanting to know: What is St Matts? How can I be a member of St Matts? What does it even mean to be a member of St Matts? What does St Matts believe about who, what and where God is?

More

More is a discipleship group for all those who are relatively new to the Christian faith and want to find out more about what it means to be a Christian. More runs for 5 weeks at a time and usually happens on a Wednesday night. Venue, date and time details are set as required.

And for people who prefer a more traditional approach::

Parish-wide

Wednesday Coffee Morning

Every Wednesday, 10.00 am - 12.00 noon. St Matthew’s Church Hall. Drop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Everyone welcome! There is no charge but donations are taken for church general funds.

Thursday Communion

In weeks where there is no 8am Holy Communion on Sunday at the end of the week, there is a short spoken Parish Communion service at 12noon on the Thursday preceding.

Mid-week daytime Bible and prayer groups

Meeting in local homes to explore faith, share prayer needs, find fellowship and grow together.

Lent Course

The St Thomas and St Matt’s congregation both did a Lent Course in 2015 and this joint venture was so successful, it is likely to be repeated next year!
