Summer 2021

It’s been really lovely to have more services in person recently and we expect this to continue over the summer. For full details of our services this month, please click here.

Our current sermon series picks up from our previous “New…” theme. We will be looking at HOW we respond  to receiving new life, being a new creation, finding new frontiers, etc. Starting with the disciples being sent out by Jesus, we will go on to look at a variety of people and how they responded to God’s call.

Our ordinand, Sarah Sanderson, is going to be leading a Retreat Walk from Wells to Bath on Saturday 10th July – more information will follow nearer the time. We expect the walk to take around 12 hours. However, we are hoping to be able to arrange for a couple of meeting points along the route where it will be possible either to retire early (!) and get a lift back to Bath, or to join the walk part-way through.

There are also various activities going on mid-week:

Soul Groups meet in homes on Wednesday or Thursday evenings. These are groups of 6-10 people who meet together for fellowship, study, prayer, walks, food… Groups have been meeting on Zoom but many are now meeting at least occasionally in person.

At 3pm Thursdays, “Tea with the Psalms” is an informal group that meets at Liz’s home, in Widcombe.

Our Tuesday morning prayer group continues to meet at 8-8.30am. A small number of us meet in The Keep at St Matt’s but others continue to join by Zoom – this “mixed economy” seems to be working well so will continue for the forseeable future.

For more details of any of these, see our weekly emails or send an email via our Contact page.

Resources to use at home:

We also have daily prayer sheets for most seasons of the year, including the current season, Trinity. This gives you a short form of prayers and readings for each day of the week, downloadable here. You may also like to read Jenny’s blog, in which she reflects on the value of having a dedicated prayer space at home, and suggests other resources that might be helpful and inspirational.

Downloadable bible reading plans are also available, see our Online Bible page.
