What are you doing for Lent?

Lent is traditionally a time for fasting but we want 2021 to be a bit different…

This year, we would like Lent to be a time for feasting on the hope in God’s word while fasting from doubt and worry! It’s a time for remembering that, when He was in the wilderness, Jesus had glorious times of overcoming and of victory. The focus is on the joy in overcoming and hope of victory, not on the dryness of the wilderness. We’re already in a wilderness! So attached to our weekly emails through out Lent will be a “Lenten menu” – a verse of encouragement for each day of the week. There will be a new menu each week to feast your soul on, to forward to friends and to share with strangers in chance meetings. To sign up for the weekly emails, click here, and let us know of any unexpected blessings…

We are also running an online Lent course, Tuesdays, 1.00 – 1.45pm – bring your lunch and enjoy reflecting on God’s encouragements in His Word. Login details are also in the weekly emails or contact Jenny for more information.

Jenny has also produced a Daily Prayer sheet for Lent which gives you a short form of prayers and readings for each day of the week which are designed to be appropriate throughout the season, downloadable here. You may also like to read Jenny’s blog, in which she reflects on the value of having a dedicated prayer space at home, and suggests other resources that might be helpful and inspirational.

If you are keen to pray with others, our Tuesday morning prayer group continues to meet by Zoom at 8am. For more details or the link, see our weekly emails, contact our Reader, Mary, or send an email via our Contact page. And details of our services are available here.

And, remember, it’s never too late to start reading the Bible!  For resources and downloadable bible reading plans, see our Online Bible page.

Finally…

… if you are not yet in one of our new small “Soul Groups” but would appreciate the opportunity to meet with others weekly, also by Zoom at the moment, these meet on Wednesday or Thursday evenings. Contact Tim or Jenny, or use the contact page to send us a message.
