St Matt’s
At St Matt’s, our vision is to follow Jesus authentically, joyfully serving and blessing Widcombe, Bath and beyond. We seek to be a welcoming Christian community where people can encounter God’s love and grace.
On a Sunday, you can expect contemporary worship, opportunities for children and young people, and a welcoming community where everyone can belong.
St Thomas à Becket
St Thomas à Becket is our beautiful historic parish church: an atmospheric space offering common worship, welcome, community and room for reflection. We want it to be a place of calm in a busy world, somewhere to pause, pray, restore the soul and deepen the inner life.
On Sundays, you can expect traditional worship, a strong rhythm of prayer and a warm, welcoming community where people of all ages can belong and grow in faith.
Two historic churches, offering beautiful spaces for worship, community and reflection in Widcombe Parish.
Our Buildings
St Thomas à Becket
St Thomas à Becket is the oldest city church in Bath, built from 1490–1498 by John Cantlow, Prior of Bath Abbey, reputedly on the site of a previous Norman chapel.
Situated in a most picturesque and tranquil beauty spot, St Thomas’ is a small ‘country’ church, seating a maximum of 100 worshippers. Our beautiful and ancient church sits in the heart of Widcombe, offering a sense of intimacy, stillness and reflection to all who enter.
St Matt’s
St Matt’s is the largest church building in Bath (with the exception of Bath Abbey.)
Our Victorian church sits high above Widcombe Locks, with its tower visible across the city. The building is used for worship, ministry, mission and family life.
